Reviews about Riversbrook Veterinary Group - Ellenbrook Branch
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆2017-05-21, by Mario LavergataI took my German Shepherd here late August 2016. She was 7 years old and I told the vet she had slowed down suddenly and had a look of pain on her face and her character had changed. The vet inspected her and told me it was arthritis. She was put on a 3 month joint care programme and was reassessed late November of which I told the vet that there was no improvement in her condition but was told to carry on. I took her back mid January 2017 for her booster and health check where once again I told the vet her condition was the same. On the 24th January she was sick and off her food. She was seen on the 25th and they took blood samples for analasys. I was called on 26th January and was told she may have a slight stomach infection and I collected the prescribed anti biotics. I gave her a tablet a 7pm and at 9pm that evening she was struggling for breath and couldn't get up. I phoned the practice and had to rush her to Vets Now at Melton as this practice doesnt offer out of hours service. As soon as the vet saw her she suspected internal bleeding, and an ultrasound scan confirmed a burst splenic tumor. She was operated but unfortunately died during the operation. I phoned the practice the following day asking why I was told there was nothing wrong with her and 18 hours later she was dead. I was told that these are difficult to spot etc and when I asked the vet why it didnt show up on a blood test she told me that some of the test wasn"t carried out due to a faulty machine. I wrote an official complaint to the practice manager asking why wasn"t I listened to and why an incomplete blood test carried out. The reply was written on photocopy paper (not company letter headed) she said in future she would tell the examining vets to listen more clearly to the pet owners and she said another complete blood test was carried out which I dont believe to be the case. I have been using this Practice for the last 20 years and I believe their standards have fallen significantly since it was sold. The experienced vets such as Simon and Guy have been replaced by youth. I have no confidence in this practice and based on my own experience, I can only describe them as completely incompetent and wont be taking any of my pets here. The advice I would give to anyone is AVOID
